11月25日，香港大学教授何智荣先生应邀到我们学院，为同学们作了题为——“建筑、城市设计与规划”的讲座。何智荣教授为美国加州伯克利大学建筑学士，哈佛大学城市规划博士，香港大学建筑系教授，多个建筑协会会员，并在建筑设计大赛中获得多项殊荣。

      本次讲座上，何教授首先为我们讲解了城市规划、城市设计以及建筑三者之间的关系，并指出：城市设计是融合建筑师、景观建筑师和城市规划师的技能的规定训练。

        何教授为同学们界定建筑、城市规划和设计三者关系

   规划定位倾向于合理的发展政策、土地用途分析、资源配置、决策的实施等。而建筑则关注设计的独创性、建筑技术和施工管理方面。城市设计师需要注重城市整体风貌的设计，它是关于城市的美学秩序，旨在为城市人群创造一个理想的社会环境，用空间形态表现理想的社会环境。何教授精彩的讲座让同学们深受启发，对于城市规划、设计和建筑三者之间的关系有了深层次的认识，更加明确如何才能更好对自身专业方向定位。

      接下来，何教授为同学们逐一解读都市环境质量问题的诸多领域，从自然设置、历史、自然环境、场所感等多角度和同学们探讨了其在城市设计中的必要性，并以自己的经验告诉同学们，城市建设应该考虑那些设计要素，怎样成为一名合格的、负责的城市设计师。

      最后，何教授与同学们分享了自己在各个城市所做的项目，从新城开发、旧城改造、开发区规划设计到楼盘规划等等。通过对这些项目设计中的各种元素的理解，更能深刻感受到何教授讲的如何做一位有责任的城市设计师。

      何教授总结，城市设计与国家的发达程度有关，所以，美国的城市设计正在走下坡，新加坡则处于平缓阶段，而中国作为非常有发展潜力的发展中国家，规划设计的前景很好，鼓励同学们多思多想多动手，把握好这个良好的大氛围。

      何智荣教授的讲座高屋建瓴、深入浅出介绍了自身的专业所长，言语风趣幽默，让同学们在良好的互动氛围中感受到了作为一名城市设计师的骄傲与荣耀，激发了大家对于专业学习和思考的动力，对自己的事业规划、人生规划都有了更为清晰的目标。  

Professor HO Chi Wing invited from Hong Kong University gives us a lecture

     25-Nov, Professor HO Chi Wing who comes from Hong Kong University is invited to our school and gives us a lecture on Architecture , Urban Design and Planning. Professor HO got a bachelor degree of architecture at University of California, Berkeley, USA and doctor of urban planning at Harward and now he is a professor at Department of Architecture ,the Hong Kong University and members of many architect institutes.

     In the lecture, Professor HO explains to us the relationship among urban planning ,urban design and architecture. Also, he emphasizes that urban design is a prescriptive discipline which combines the skills of architects, landscape architects and urban planners.

     It is obvious that planners are oriented towards rational development policies, land use analysis, allocation of resources and implementation strategies while architects are concerned with the design creativity, building technology and construction management. Different from the two ones, urban design concerns the physical form of the city, the aesthetic order of the city, and also it concerns an idealized social environment and an idealized social environment expressed in a physical form. The lovely lecture benefits the students a lot and gives the students a better understanding of planning ,urban design and architecture, which explicits the difference among them.

      Then Professor HO makes a introduction on the quality of the urban environment, such as natural setting, history, nature, sense of place and etc. He explores the necessity of them in urban design   Combining with his experience, he tells the students what should be concerned in design and how to become a responsible urban designer.

     At last, Professor HO shares some of his projects in different cities , which range from new town planning, urban revitalization, new districts planning to real estate planning and etc. From the practice, the students get a better understanding of planning and design, both in forms and details.

     Professor HO concludes that urban design is closely connected with the countries’ development, therefore the urban design in USA is going downhill while in Singapore it is in a flat stage. China ,as a developing country with great potential has a good prospect in urban planning and design. Meanwhile, he encourages the students to think more and grasp the great atmosphere.

     Professor HO explains profound theories in simple language and gives the students a strategically advantageous position, which benefits the students a lot, and through this seminar, the students own a clearer goal of their career planning and life planning.
